- חֲסַםch. sam(חסם Ito withhold, prevent), to muzzle; trnsf. to silence. Sot.35a וחַסְמִין לי and they will silence me. Snh.32b. Ithpa. אִתְחַסַּם Ithpe. אִתְחֲסַם, אִיחֲ׳ to be muzzled, silenced. Targ. Ps. 32:9. Ib. 107:42.Snh. l. c. ולִיחַסְּמוּ let them be silenced (intimidated).
